Ingredients

Core Alloy

  • 1 cup steamed or cooked lentils (brown or green hold shape well)
  • 1 egg — the binding spark
  • 2–3 tbsp almond flour — stabilizer and structure
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for the skillet and extra richness)

Seasoning Matrix

  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika (recommended)

  • 1 tbsp finely minced onion or shredded carrot

Forge Steps

  1. Add steamed lentils to a mixing bowl. If they’re very wet, gently pat with a towel — you want them soft but not soggy.
  2. Crack in the egg and stir until the lentils are fully coated. This is the ignition point.
  3. Sprinkle in 2 tbsp almond flour and mix. The texture should feel like warm, pliable clay that holds together. If it’s still loose, add up to 1 extra tbsp.
  4. Fold in salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and any optional upgrades (tamari, onion, carrot, mustard). Taste and adjust seasoning.
  5. Shape the mixture into a thick patty (about ¾ inch). Compress gently — enough to unify, not crush.
  6. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium. Add the olive oil or butter. When it shimmers and whispers, lay in the patty.
  7. Sear 4–5 minutes per side, until a golden-brown crust forms and the patty feels firm but not dry. Remove from heat and let it rest for a minute.
  8. Serve on a crumpet, bun, or over greens, with whatever toppings match your current battle phase. Eat with intention; this is fuel, not background noise.

If the patty tries to spread in the pan, add a touch more almond flour next round. If it feels dense, dial the flour down slightly or add a drizzle more fat.
